What is powder coating?

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Powder coating is applied electrostatically and then cured at 200 °C heat or with Ultraviolet light for a minimum of 10 minutes to 15 minutes heat. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as aluminium or steel.

Popular applications include metals, such as panels, extrusions, bracketshandrails, balustrades, bollards, frames, fences. The powder coating process was invented around 1945 by Daniel Gustin.
